“Oneness Pentecostals” and “Jesus Only” Movements / Timothy D. Oliver ><>

It’s interesting that Oneness adcovates want to rant and rave about the name of Jesus (which is all good if it was the true Jesus) but ironically, they truly deny the Jesus of Scripture in many instances. Let me explain one: in a recent interview that I had with one of the premier apologists of the church today, Dr. James R. White, Th. D., an accomplished scholar, author of numerous books. When examining the passage in I John 2:23, which reads:

“Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.”

Dr. White comments, “In Oneness theology, the Son is not an eternal [pre-existent] and divine person; the Son is the human form that the Father in essence indwells. So that Jesus becomes both the Father and the Son. They are not confessing the Son that we have in Scripture. They’re not confessing the Son who Paul say’s in Colossians 1:16-17 has created all things. So as a result of that, they are in essence denying the Son and therefore they don’t have the Father….”

White then continued to comment on the passage saying that this is clearly what the Apostle John is communicating in the text, as brother White read from the Greek New Testament.  Dr. White is a Greek and Hebrew scholar, and teaches the Biblical languges.  It was quite a privilege to spend time with such an intellect and strong defender of the faith.  Not to mention White has debated Oneness advocates such as Dr. Robert Sabin & David Bernard both are well known in the Onesness comminity.

  1. Elder Jonathan Shivers Jr says:

The oneness has to be revealed in order for people to understand it. In the book of Revelation 4.1-2 John says a throne was set before him in heaven and one sat on the throne NOT 3 as the trinitarian believe. In Revelations Chapter 5 it states at least 5 time “he” or “him” that sat on the throne not them one person not three. There is only one God with 3 manifestation Father in creation, Son in redemption, and Holy Ghost in the church.

    • Timothy Oliver says:

Holy Writ clearly conveys (to those who have been born from above) there is one God Who eternally exists in 3 persons simultaneously, not one God taking on different modes of manifestations. The Oneness heresy is a denial of the One true God of Biblical Revelation. You can’t find one verse in the Bible that says God is one person. Not to mention that all pseudo-christian cults believe in salvation by works.

Answering me this, I have 30 seconds to live, “what must I do to be saved?”
